Requesting a birth certificate is a simple four step process:

Important Notes
Requests for certificates are usually processed by the Vital Statistics office in 10 business days or less.
All applications made using this service are subject to verification by the Registrar of Vital Statistics.
You should:
1) Have any personal information (e.g. birth dates, place of birth, parent's full names and birth places, etc.) close by for reference
2) Be sure that the birth occurred in Nova Scotia.
