  • No more drinking, smoking, and taking any other drugs (even over-the-counter ones).  You want your body to be in the best possible shape for baby making, or to support the baby if you are already pregnant at this point.
  • Every little bit of water helps ensure a healthy pregnancy. You should drink at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses per day throughout your pregnancy.
  • Check in with your doctor to find out whether you should continue taking any prescription drugs.
  • It would be ideal to take a daily multivitamin that contains at least 400 micrograms of folic acid to reduce risk of birth defects.
