Week 27

Week 27

Your baby can now open and close its eyes, and sleeps and wakes at regular intervals.

The baby may also be sucking its fingers.

The lungs are still immature but they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if the baby were to be born prematurely.

Any rhythmic movement you may be feeling could be a case of baby hiccups, which could be common from now on.

Your baby's brain is very active now.

Along with an aching back, for example, you may find that your leg muscles cramp up now and then. They're carrying extra weight, after all, and your uterus is putting extra demands on your circulation. Leg cramps are more common at night but can also happen during the day.
