Week 1

Congratulations on making the decision to become a parent!

Most women are fertile in the middle of their menstrual cycle, or about two weeks after their last period starts.

You are then most likely to conceive in a window of approximately 4 days.

Ovulation occurs.  Ovulation is when a mature egg is swept into one of your Fallopian tubes to await the arrival of sperm.

Only about 400 sperm will survive the ten-hour journey to the egg, and only one will succeed in passing through the membrane. In about 20 minutes the lucky winner has found his way in.

If the sperm carries a Y chromosome, your baby will be a boy; if it's an X chromosome, you'll be welcoming a girl.
