Time to Move?

We’re thinking about moving.

We live in a two-bedroom condo townhouse in West Toronto and space is getting tight! We bought our place before I got pregnant. We didn’t expect to start a family so soon and thought our second bedroom would make the perfect office and guestroom. Well, a mere month after moving in, we found out we were expecting Benjamin!

My office turned into the nursery and all empty corners turned into storage for baby gear and toys. Thankfully, I wasn’t completely out of an office. With a little creativity, I was able to convert my top floor into the perfect working space. But all other areas of the home (especially since Christmas) are quickly getting swallowed up with Benjamin’s things.

Three things other parents can’t live without, we don’t have and now need (almost desperately) – a basement, a garage and a yard!

We do have a spacious roof-top patio that is now acting as a storage locker but other than that we have no where to put things.

So we’re on the lookout for the “perfect” home. Ideally, we’d like to stay in our neighbourhood. I couldn’t imagine moving away from High Park and the Bloor West shops. I also couldn’t imagine my husband commuting more than 20 minutes to work!

We live in a wonderful area but housing isn’t cheap. The next house needs to be in a good area, have lots of space and be near good schools. But I’m unsure if we can find that within our budget in the city. I wonder if we need to move to the ‘burbs to have it “all”?
