Aqua Doodie
I often hear of kids pooping in the bath but never actually had it happen to me.That is, until last night.
Benjamin was in dire need of a bath, so we ran the water and put him in with all of the new bath toys he got from Christmas. He assumed his usual squat position (my son still won’t sit down in water, but he used to stand so squatting is an improvement), and began playing and splashing with his hands. The good news is that bath time no longer feels like a torture chamber. Benjamin is now enjoying himself and has limited the screams to hair washing only. The bad news is he may be getting too comfortable.
By too comfortable, I mean he mistakes the bath for a toilet.
The other day he peed in the tub. Today, he squatted down and went poop! He was very nonchalant about it too. He played, smiled and splashed around like it was no big deal (probably because, to a 17-month-old, it really isn’t a big deal).
Luckily it wasn’t a messy poop! It immediately floated to the top and I scooped it out and flushed it in the toilet. I ran some clean water and proceeded to wash my son. He’s still so young and doesn’t yet have bathroom manners. Has your child ever pooped in the bath?
