Scratch Here Please!
My tummy has been incredibly itchy lately. It’s becoming unbearable actually. Wherever I go, I’m scratching my belly. Morning and night I rub in lotion. I’ve been using a product called Tummy Butter by Palmers. It’s supposed to help prevent stretch marks and has been known to help with the annoying itchy feeling. I’ve also recruited my husband to scratch in between the foot rubs and back massages. Thank goodness for the extra hands!
But while scratching is alleviating my discomfort temporarily, it could be creating bad side effects over the long term. I just read a post on the Internet that scratching can actually cause stretch marks! If this is true, I’m in trouble. It’s like when you’re a kid with chicken pox and your parents tell you not to itch or else it’ll scar.
The itching could also be the result of dry skin. I’ve noticed dry patches all over my body, especially on my cheeks and belly. Hormones also play a role. It hasn’t become so bad that I’m concerned about it. It’s more of an annoyance at this point. But I’ve read if the itching becomes unbearable it’s important to consult the doctor as it could be a sign of something more serious, like a liver problem. This is rare but it does happen so either way I’m happy I do my research to help me better understand what’s going on with my body.

Booking a Babymoon
My husband and I are planning a mini babymoon.
What’s a babymoon, you ask? Funny because I had never heard of it either before becoming pregnant but it’s a getaway couples take before the baby arrives. It’s a chance for couples to charge their batteries and rekindle the romance before countless nights of no sleep and changing dirty diapers arrive.
This completely makes sense to me. My husband and I are going to be exhausted for the first while after our son is born. We’re very realistic about this and want to enjoy some couple only time before our lives get turned upside down. There will be quite an adjustment period going from just two of us to three! While I know we would both ideally like to go somewhere exotic and far away for a week, we’re instead going to go somewhere for a weekend. We’re thinking about a spa getaway which will be fantastic as I am long overdue for a full body massage.
I’m looking forward to our mini babymoon and encourage all couples expecting a baby to take some time out for themselves as well. Having a baby is an exciting, positive experience but I think it’s important to take periodic romantic escapes, before the baby and after the baby, to remind yourselves why you came together and fell in love in the first place.

Stroller Shopping – Baby’s First Wheels
We’re shopping around for strollers now. Wow these baby wheels are expensive. A top of the line stroller can easily set parents back $1000! Our price range is half that and to me that’s still quite pricey considering I’ve heard children last less than a year in their first one before moving on to the next.
We live in the city in a condo so we’re hoping to purchase a stroller that is light weight and compact yet durable enough to withstand our long walks. So many categories of strollers are available:
- Jogging strollers
- Umbrella
- Travel systems
- Light weight
In my opinion, stroller shopping is much like shopping for a car. Aside from the fact that many of them cost as much as my first car, I want to make sure it fits in with my lifestyle, looks good and is safe. So much selection is available though, making a decision hard to make. I hope to have this narrowed down within the month after I speak with other moms and do more research.
